Short Review: If you have an iota of interest in the 2008 subprime mortgage crisis, please stop reading and go watch The Big Short.
The Bit Short is a dramatic retelling of the financial crisis that reveals a world of chaos, corruption and misfits. Told from the perspective of a few individuals who saw it coming and bet against the housing market.
The makers of this movie faced a challenge- how to make the financial crisis compelling to the everyday movie goer? And they decided to pursue the absurdity of the what really went down before the financial crisis and who is to be blamed for it.
Though occasionally scrappy and arguably over-long, this is the best film yet to tackle the biggest financial disaster since 1929. It informs and outrages us without resorting to Michael Moore-style haranguing, and turn the financial crisis into a snack able digest.
Hurry up, get your hands on The Big Short and watch it over the weeekend. Personal recommendation- you’ll love it!
